DESCRIPTION:The Christian Community of Chapel Hill is an affiliate congregation of The Christian Community in the Greater Washington – Baltimore Area. When it is not possible for Rev. Giles to visit us and hold services\, we sometimes have Devotional Gatherings at the home of one of our members. At these meetings we engage in a little singing\, some short prayers\, a gospel reading\, and plenty of conversation. To request the Sacrament of Consultation\, please contact him directly (216-401-4287\, matthiasgiles@gmail.com). After the service\, we will walk to North Forest Hills Park (121 Collums Rd\, Chapel Hill\, NC 27514) for a pot luck brunch and singing. Please bring a dish that can be shared. Coffee will be provided by the Carrying Group. \nPlease stay home if you are experiencing COVID related symptoms. Masks are optional.

We typically read from the Jon Madsen rendering of The New Testament but compare with other versions. Our conversation about the gospel reading tends to deepen and illuminate our understanding while drawing us into a spiritually intimate communion. DESCRIPTION:The Act of Consecration of Man will be held on Thursday\, June 24th at 10:30 am at the residence of Buddy & Sarah Smiley. Afterwards we hope that people will gather at a nearby park to share a pot luck lunch and fellowship from approximately 12 – 2 pm. The address of North Forest Hills Park is 121 Collums Road\, Chapel Hill\, NC 27514. \nMasks and distancing will no longer be required. However\, since the seating space is limited in the Smiley residence we are asking for RSVPs\, including whether you will be able to attend the pot luck afterwards. If you can stay\, please bring a folding chair for yourself and a dish that can be shared with about 10 people. Picnic tables\, drinks\, dessert and tableware will be provided. \nThere is time for a couple of consultations on Wed. June 23rd. To schedule this\, please contact Rev Matthias directly. Please contact him directly to schedule a meeting by calling 216-401-4287. Consultations will be held at 2707 Tryon Rd. Durham\, NC 27705. \nMatthias will give a talk after the service entitled Faith and Knowledge: Ever the Twain Shall Meet.\nSome beginning questions on the theme: How do we relate to these estranged siblings? What do they have to do with one another? How has that changed over time\, and why does it matter today?. \nFeel free to bring your own snack if desired for after the service and before the talk. Coffee will be provided. \nMasks are required while in the building and social distancing is required while outside the building. We appreciate your support for what we do in bringing the sacraments to NC and if you are able to make a contribution towards the increased expenses of hosting this event\, it is greatly appreciated.
